Brandy Freitas is a physicist-turned-data scientist, who specializes in machine learning for predictive analytics. She completed her undergraduate degrees in Physics and Biochemistry at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she was awarded the Goldwater Fellowship for excellence in undergraduate research. Brandy’s research took her from the University of California San Diego, Dartmouth, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and finally to graduate school at Harvard University. As a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in Biophysics at Harvard, Brandy specialized in single particle cryo-electron microscopy, with a focus on machine learning in automated protein structure determination.

A strong advocate for women in STEM, Brandy dedicated her time post graduate school to developing and delivering curriculum for the Boston-based non-profit, Science Club for Girls, helping to foster excitement, confidence and literacy in STEM for girls from underrepresented communities.

Brandy joined Pitney Bowes as a Senior Data Scientist on their PreSales team in January of 2018, where she works to develop data-driven solutions for a broad range of industries.
