I am originally from Australia but live in Copenhagen Denmark with my wife, new born boy (Finn) and a dog that looks like Chewbacca. I have been an engineer my entire career (12 years) and was the 4th engineer at the first Unicorn in Denmark (Sitecore). I now work for a company that is solving the problem of the disconnected enterprise where we are using the latest technologies to innovate as quickly as possible. I have a good sense of humor and I always like to put this into my presentations (even if my jokes are more “dad jokes” now). I think people will like this presentation as I always like to take the complexity out of complex discussions, which in turn excites people to step into using technology that they may originally hesitate to start.
My favorite One Direction member is without a doubt, Niall. Why? Let’s start with his exploration in hair styles (no Harry Styles pun intended) where like me, he stumbled through a plethora of hair styles (Harry Styles pun intended) before he found himself in blonde tips. His lyrical genius with tracks like “Live while we’re young” embodied my internal struggle to grow up and accept adulthood, while reminding me that reliving childish desires is really “What makes you beautiful”. The “One Thing” I learnt from his teachings was that you “Gotta be you” and that life is “More than this”.
While on their “Never grow up” tour, I remember vivid discussions with Niall on his opinion of Causal Clustering in Neo4j - and I quote, “Yes, Tim I agree that the use of core sync servers will reduce the redundancy necessary to talk cross data region and will alleviate RAM usage on the slave sync servers”. This discussion later went on to be the inspiration behind the One Direction number one hit, “You are the Cause of my Clustering”.
